River House

The River House is a conceptual study of a modern infill project on a parcel directly off Fort Lauderdale’s coveted New River.
The premise of the design is creating spaces with privacy from the street and creating spaces which embrace the area’s comfortable climate.
The house differs from surrounding developments in that it does not try to force architectural language from South Florida’s past but introduces a new approach to designing to a tropical and casual lifestyle.
The house also differs from recent local development by keeping all living areas on one level. This increases the concept of individual privacy and embracing the natural habitat.

The concept for The River House grew from the idea of thick vertical masses creating interior courtyards much like the ones used in Latin America which has a similar climate to Fort Lauderdale.
